The Institute for the Study of International Development congratulates Wendy Lin, recipient of this year��s Best Undergraduate Paper in International Development Studies Prize. Wendy is a Joint Honours International Development Studies and Cultural Studies graduate with a minor in East Asian Language and Literatures. She received the award for her honours thesis, ��ȥȥ �C Coming and Going: A Qualitative Study on First- and 1.5-Generation Taiwanese Return Migration.��

The Montreal International Poetry Prize is committed to encouraging the creation of original works of poetry, to building international readerships, and to exploring the world��s Englishes.

We award one prize of $20,000 CAD to a poet for a single poem of forty or fewer lines. A jury of internationally reputed poets and critics selects a shortlist of approximately sixty poems, from which a judge chooses one winner. The shortlist is published in The Montreal Poetry Prize Anthology.

The Faculty of Arts is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Professor?St��fan Sinclair of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Three of Professor Sinclair's close colleagues��Geoffrey Rockwell at the University of Alberta, Susan Brown at the University of Guelph, and Michael Sinatra at the Universit�� de Montr��al��honour his life and work below.

It saddens us to write that on the morning of August 6th, 2020 St��fan Sinclair passed away in Montr��al, Canada with family nearby.

Every summer growing up, Fiona Beaty's family would make the trip from Vancouver to Bowen Island, where she would spend her time playing in the woods and turning over rocks at the shore in her search for crabs. Now, Beaty is back on the coast and her more recent explorations in marine biology are getting much more attention. Last month, she was awarded a National Geographic Early Career grant to support her latest project, the Howe Sound Atl'ka7tsem Marine Reference Guide.
