The Equity Committees of the SSMU and PGSS are organizing the Equity and Media conference, co-sponsored by PGSS, Queer ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, Media@ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, the SSMU Campus Life Fund, and the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Alumni Association.

On Friday, March 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. is the kick-off event, Exposed: The role of the media in promoting Islamophobia, featuring panelists Samir Shaheen-Hussain, social justice activist and part of the No One is Illegal campaign, Dr. Shirley Steinberg, Associate Professor in Integrated Studies in Education, and Sameer Zuberi, law student, media consultant and human rights activist. The panel will be moderated by Samaa Elibyari, host of the CKUT program Caravan.

On Saturday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is the Equity and the Media Conference, an undergraduate research conference with two paper panels and a third panel discussing Maclean's article, "Too Asian."

Both events are free and open to the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï community as well as to the public.
