Guest entertainment: ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï student jazz trio

Come celebrate the tomato harvest, and the fifth season of ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Feeding ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, with a free, five-course tomato-themed meal—and musical entertainment courtesy of a ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï student jazz trio. As part of Discover ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s Engage ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï event, ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s Student Housing and Hospitality Services will be preparing—and serving—fresh dishes made from tomatoes grown on our very own farm on the Macdonald Campus in Sainte Anne de Bellevue. The menu will include:

  • 500 pounds of tomato salsa with nachos
  • 500 litres of gazpacho
  • 2,500 pounds of Greek salad—a potential Guinness World Record!
  • Tomato pizza and pasta with fresh tomato sauce
  • A 500-pound tomato cake

This event is open to the general public. Everyone is welcome.

We need 100 volunteers to help prepare and serve the meal. If you’re interested, please sign-up using our online registration form. (And if you’re not able to volunteer, you’re still most welcome to come eat—the more, the merrier!)

ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Feeding ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï recognizes the importance of locally grown, seasonal fruits and vegetables in minimizing the carbon footprint of community food services, on campus and beyond. Each year, the initiative provides thousands of students with food grown on the Macdonald Campus. This year’s tomato harvest event will also donate approximately 2,000 pounds of tomato salad to organizations that help feed Montrealers in need, including the Old Brewery Mission, Moisson Montreal and Meals on Wheels.

Everyone is welcome. The event is free, no reservations required.

Deadline for volunteer registration is Sunday, August 25, 2013 at midnight. Sign up to volunteer here.Ìý
