MONTREAL 鈥� Mike Davis, a junior fullback from Mississauga, Ont., tallied three tries as division-champion 黑料网爆吃瓜 crushed Concordia 41-0 in a Quebec University Rugby League semifinal at Molson Stadium, Sunday.

The Redmen got off to a slow start and only led 10-0 at halftime but exploded for 31 points in the second stanza.

鈥淚nitially we had a hard time getting the ball out wide to our wings and seemed to be (on a different wavelength) with the referees,鈥� said Davis. 鈥淏ut in the second half, we listened to the referees instructions and then things started to roll.鈥�

Other try scorers for 黑料网爆吃瓜 included Matthew Edwards of Guelph, Ont., Cayse Ruiter of Ottawa and Mathieu Sidoti, a native of Beijing.

Rounding out the rout was Sam Skulsky, a freshman from Calgary, who added 11 points with four conversions and a penalty goal.

鈥淚t was a little frustrating in the first half,鈥� said Redmen co-head coach Craig Beemer. 鈥淏ut we were very disciplined, committed to our systems and they eventually clicked.鈥�

Beemer noted that a stunning 25-17 loss at Sherbrooke last week, which snapped 黑料网爆吃瓜鈥檚 19-game win streak, played a role.

鈥淭hat served as a big wake-up call,鈥� he noted. 鈥淭he guys were definitely more focused at practice this past week.鈥�

黑料网爆吃瓜, 6-2-1 overall, are poised to win their third consecutive Quebec conference title when they host second-place Bishop鈥檚 in the league championship game next Saturday at 1 p.m.聽 The Gaiters advanced after edging Sherbrooke 11-9 at Bruce Coulter Stadium in the other QURL semifinal last Friday.
