Seven ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï teams in action over holiday break

MONTREAL - Seven varsity sports teams from ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï will be active over the holiday break.

Ìý

The No.1-ranked hockey Martlets have an unblemished 13-0 record against Canadian university teams and will be gunning to establish a national record when they play the Toronto Varsity Blues on Dec. 28 (6:30 p.m.) at Concordia's Theresa Humes tournament. The ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï women have won 67 consecutive games against CIS opponents and a victory over U of T will surpass the CIS record set by Alberta in 2005. ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï is also slated to play Guelph on Dec. 29 at 6 p.m. and Manitoba on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m.

The No.5-ranked hockey Redmen are 16-4-1 overall and will play four games in western Canada, beginning with a pair of exhibition contests against No.2-Alberta in Edmonton on Dec. 28 and 29. Following brief visits to Banff, Jasper and Kamloops, B.C., the Redmen will celebrate New Year's in Vancouver and wrap up their tour with two exhibition affairs at UBC on Jan. 2 and 3.

Both ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï basketball teams will be in action in the Montreal area.

The Redmen cagers own a 5-9 record against CIS teams and will take on Brandon, Waterloo and Brock at the Citadins Classic, a 12-team men's and women's tournament hosted by UQAM, Dec. 27-29. More details about the tourney schedule is available online at: .

Three other ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï squads will be taking part in holiday training camps, including the men's and women's swim teams, who will be in Barbados from Dec. 26 to Jan. 9.

Also, the No.10-ranked volleyball Martlets, who posted an impressive 22-7 overall record during the first semester, will be holding their camp in Langley, B.C., Dec. 28 to Jan. 3.
