This bilingual and student-based initia tive promotes interdisciplinary dialogue on issues where the law and healt h intersect\, with the goal of encouraging the development of better healt h care policy in Canada.\n The Colloquium will facilitate a critical discus sion of the Act’s merits\, particularly with respect to the perceived tens ion between the promotion of public safety and the protection of the right s of mentally ill persons accused of criminal offences. This year’s paneli sts will discuss the Act’s potential to achieve its goal of increasing pub lic safety in light of its possible implications on society’s understandin g and treatment of mental illness.\n The MJLH will welcome a panel of guest s from across the country\, including: Mr. Michael Arruda\, from the Servi ce de police de la Ville de Montréal\; Dr. Patrick Baillie\, from the Ment al Health Commission of Canada\; Dr. Hy Bloom\, Adjunct Professor at the U niversity of Toronto’s Faculty of Law and Assistant Professor in the Depar tment of Medicine\; Dr. Renée Fugère\, from l’Institut Philippe-Pinel de M ontréal\; Dr. Archibald Kaiser\, from the Schulich School of Law and the D epartment of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University\; and\, the Honourable Jus tice Mr. Richard Schneider\, Chair of the Ontario Review Board.
