  explores the suffering that comes when one aging\nspouse departs emotiona
 lly from the other. Fiona has Alzheimer’s\ndisease and her husband must pl
 ace her in an institution. To his\nhorror\, he watches Fiona establish a r
 omantic bond with another\npatient who is also suffering from dementia. Th
 eir relationship\nforces him to confront his own history of infidelity.\n
 \nThe short story appears in Alice Munro’s book of the same name. The\nsho
 rt story was originally published as 'The Bear Came Over the\nMountain' in
  Munro’s collection 'Hateship\, Friendship\, Courtship\,\nLoveship\, Marri
 age'.\n\nThe film 'Away From Her' is the directorial debut of Canadian\nac
 tress Sarah Polley. It was launched at the 2006 Toronto\nInternational Fil
