 ntre\, which was settled by Irish immigrants who\nworked on the constructi
 on of the Lachine Canal and in the\nsurrounding industrial factories at th
 e turn of the 20th century.\nOur guide is Gemma Peralta\, BA’00\, currentl
 y a graduate student in\nºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s School of Urban Planning. Gemma will hig
 hlight the unique\nurban design features of Griffintown\, describing the h
 istorical\nbuildings and the evolution of their uses\, and discuss future 
 urban\nplanning considerations throughout the neighbourhood. Re-discover\n
 Griffintown as it is today\, a lively neighbourhood in transition.\nAt the
  end of our tour\, we’ll stop at Griffintown’s own Bierbrier\nBrewing\, fo
 unded by alumnus Charles Bierbrier\, BA’98\, and sample\nsome of Montreal’
 s finest ale.\n\nHighlights of the tour will include:\n- Heritage building
 s along Notre-Dame Street and new commercial\nenterprises\n- The Griffinto
 wn Horse Palace\n- Remnants of St. Ann’s Catholic Church\n- Les Brasseurs 
 de Montréal and Bierbrier Brewing\n- The Dow and O’Keefe Brewery Buildings
