Macaulay CM\, MD\, FCF P\, is a Professor of\nFamily Medicine at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï\, Inaugural Di rector of\nParticipatory Research at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï (PRAM) opened in 2006\, whose \nmission is promote all forms of participatory research and further\nthe academic understanding of this approach to research.\nAnn C. Macaulay firs t started using a participatory research\napproach in 1994\, and from 1994 -2006 she was scientific director of\nthe Kahnawake\nSchools Diabetes Prev ention Project (KSDPP) funded by the\nCanadian Institutes of Health Resear ch.\nThis ongoing project uses a participatory research partnership\nbetwe en the Mohawk community of Kahnawake\, Quebec and neighboring\nuniversitie s to promote healthy lifestyles for the primary\nprevention of Type 2 diab etes in Kahnawake and Aboriginal\ncommunities across Canada.\nDr Macaulay was a practicing family physician in Kahnawake from\n1970 to 2008. She was born in the UK\, graduated from a Scottish\nmedical school\, and immigrat ed to Canada in 1969.\nMorgan Kahentonni Phillips is a Kanien'kehá:ka\n(Mo hawk) from the community of Kahnawake and is of the wolf clan.\nShe gradua ted with a BA Honours in Anthropology from Concordia\nUniversity in June 2 008\, and is currently at the department of\nSociology and Anthropology at Concordia working through her M.A. in\nthe area of Indigenous mental heal th research.
