Sherraden’s (1991)\ntheory of assets and McCubbin and Patterson's (1983) Family\nAdjustment and Adaptation Response (FAAR) m odel informed this study\nof how assets relate to family demands among 839 low-income\nfamilies. Structural Equation Modeling found that assets were \ndirectly related to a reduced sense of family demands and that\nassets w ere indirectly related to demands via economically\nstressful events.  Fin dings suggest that social welfare\npolicies that promote assets among low- income families may\npositively influence family relations. Future family research would\nbenefit from measuring assets as economic resources and te sting how\nassets affect family functioning.\n DTSTART:20110216T170000Z DTEND:20110216T183000Z LOCATION:Wilson Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3506 rue University SUMMARY:'Exploring assets and family stress' by David Rothwell URL:/channels/event/exploring-assets-and-family-stress -david-rothwell-171573 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
