SEI Impact Internship Program: Seeds of Change Crowdfunding

Թ students have incredible ideas and know how to enact positive social change. Now you can help them apply their knowledge and passion through the Impact Internship Program at the Social Economy Initiative (SEI) of the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM). The program pairs top undergraduate students with social-purpose organizations (i.e. non-profits and social enterprises) for ten weeks over the summer.

Desautels team wins Montreal Regional Risk Management Challenge

Desautels BCom students Hasan Nizami, Ishani Majumdar, Fiona Xu and Sunaina Roy Chaudhuri (coached by Professor Sebastien Betermier) won the Montreal regional PRMIA Risk Management Challenge on January 22. The team will proceed to the International PRMIA Risk Management Challenge to be held in Minneaopolis, Minnesota on March 6th, 2015.

Desautels' Jeux du Commerce delegation wins 6 podiums

Congratulations to all of those who participated and supported our 2015 Jeux du Commerce delegation Winning 6 distinctive podiums, the academic teams cummulatively placed Desautels in the 3rd spot of the academic ranking: 2nd place in Debate: Djavan Habel-Thurton, Evan Weiser, Justin Kieran, and Jade Vaillancourt. 3rd place in Marketing : Manuel Gobeille-Leblanc, Rachel Burk, and Louisa Guo.

How shame and guilt can be used to your advantage in marketing

There are ways to ensure marketers are not fumbling in the dark when it comes to getting the most out of using emotion in their marketing campaigns. From billboards and adverts to their company website, my research shows that emotions such as shame and guilt can be used to create a favourable response from consumers.
