Biography: 

Dr. Ananya Tina Banerjee is an Associate Professor at the School of Population and Global Health, ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï. Her interdisciplinary funded research integrates epidemiology and qualitative methods, with a strong foundation in community-based participatory approaches with systemically marginalized communities in Canada and globally to address health inequities in the area of chronic and infectious diseases from an intersectional lens. Collaborating closely with civil society and grassroots organizations, her work has been supported by leading funders, including CIHR, SSHRC, and Public Health Agency of Canada. Dr. Banerjee has published extensively in The Lancet, contributing to the global dialogue on health equity and anti-racism. She also serves on The Lancet’s International Advisory Board for Racial Inequalities, helping shape policy and research on a global scale. She is also an award-winning educator and was listed on the 2026 Honour List of Educational Excellence by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences recognizing her outstanding inclusive teaching practices in preparing public health and medical students on how to advance health equity in their practice, research and policy.
