Biography: 

Dr. Mahtab Tavasoli is an Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï and the Montreal Neurological Institute. Her research focuses on lipid metabolism, lipidomics, membrane biology, and the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental, neuromuscular, and neurodegenerative diseases. Her work combines cell biology, genetics, omics technologies, and translational approaches to understand how disturbances in lipid homeostasis contribute to human disease. Having trained across pharmacy, basic science, translational research, and therapeutic development, Dr. Tavasoli enjoys mentoring trainees with diverse backgrounds and career aspirations. She is particularly interested in supporting students and postdoctoral fellows pursuing interdisciplinary research, academic careers, industry opportunities, entrepreneurship, and scientific leadership. She values open discussion, collaborative problem-solving, and helping trainees develop both scientific expertise and long-term career strategies.
