Sameer Borwankar

Biography: 

Sameer Borwankar is an Assistant Professor at the Desautels Faculty of Management, ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, where he joined in July 2023. Prior to joining ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, he earned his PhD in Information Systems from Purdue University. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he spent nine years working in industry and also completed an MBA, bringing both academic and practitioner perspectives to his research and teaching. His research examines the impact of information systems and artificial intelligence on businesses and society. In particular, he studies digital platforms, social media, online communities, misinformation, and emerging AI technologies, with a focus on understanding how these technologies shape user behavior, organizational outcomes, and broader societal well-being. His work draws on large-scale digital trace data, field data, and experiments to address questions at the intersection of technology, business, and society. His research has been published in leading journals, including Information Systems Research (ISR) and Production and Operations Management (POMS). At ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, he teaches courses related to information systems, artificial intelligence, and technology management across undergraduate and graduate programs.
