The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has awarded 122 ��Թ� research projects funding from its Discovery Grants competition for a total investment of $30 million. The Discovery Grants program is NSERC's largest and longest-standing program. Discovery Grants support ongoing projects with long-term goals, providing researchers with the flexibility to explore the most promising avenues of research as they emerge.

Study offers guidance on the therapeutic use of mindfulness, yoga to boost mental health for dementia patients

Non-pharmacological interventions, such as mindfulness, meditation, yoga, tai chi and breathing practices, have shown promise in helping to reduce some mental health symptoms of patients living with cognitive decline or dementia, but it has been unclear which types work best, for whom and under what conditions.

Do lying children grow up to be criminals? Mostly not, study concludes

Most childhood lying does not lead to serious problems in adulthood, and only certain kinds of lying behaviour is associated with later psychological or legal issues, a new study has found.

“Children do not all follow the same developmental pattern of lying,” said Victoria Talwar, a professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and lead author of the study. “Most children in our study showed low or declining levels of lying over time. For most, lying is not a problem behaviour.”

It is with deep respect and sadness that we pause today to honour the memory of ��Թ� Faculty of Education Professor Rachelle Pharilda Keyserlingk, who sadly passed away on November 16th, 2025. Lovingly described by her colleagues as having quiet strength and a glowing smile, Rachelle had a reputation for being a remarkable educator, administrator, and long-standing contributor to the Faculty and to ��Թ�’s Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology.

The annual prize recognizes early-career researchers who have distinguished themselves by their exceptional contributions to research.
