 \n\nBio \n\nMelinda Cochrane is a poet\, fiction writer\, speaker and educ
 ator. She is currently teaching English at Beaconsfield High School. She r
 eceived the Mary Belle Campbell Scholarship for poetry and teaching from t
 he North Carolina Writers Network. Her first YA novel\, Desperate Freedom 
 was nominated for best book of the year in 2013 from the Quebec Writer's F
 ederation. Melinda also runs a publishing service based out Montreal. She 
 hasbeen published in online magazines and blogs such as\, (regular writer 
 for) ‘Life as a Human Magazine’\, Shannon Grissom’s magazine and Erica Dia
 mond. She can also be read at Gigare Magazine. Her poetry books included T
 he Man who Stole Father’s Boat\, She’s an Island Poet and a long poem call
 ed My Lips hold the Pink and Red. She is awinner of the summer Malahat Rev
