DESCRIPTION:Bullying continues to be a serious problem in schools around th
 e world\, with evidence that involvement in bullying affects children and 
 adolescents’ health. In this seminar\, Dr. Chiaki Konishi will share curre
 nt literature and research results on bullying among children and adolesce
 nts\, especially responding to the following questions: what are correlate
 s and outcomes of bullying? what are contributing factors to bullying beha
 viours?  She will also facilitate discussion on how we can effectively res
 pond to some challenges facing bullying research\, as well as future direc
 tions for interventions and preventions. \n\nAll attendees will get a ment

 h.D.\, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational and Coun
 selling Psychology at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï\, specializing in the area of soci
 al-emotional learning (SEL) and development. She has been an active member
  of PREVNet\, Canada’s national organization for Promoting Relationships a
 nd Eliminating Violence Network\, and the international Bullying Research 
 Network\, linking 180 experts globally. Most of Chiaki’s work has been con
 ducted through collaborative partnerships with local schools and community
  agencies\, aiming at optimizing social-emotional development of children 
 and youth as well as learning environments/school climate. She has taught 
 a unique graduate-level practicum course in SEL\, the first of its kind in
  Canada initiated by Drs. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl and Shelley Hymel\, pro
 viding opportunities for teacher candidates to develop a deep understandin
 g of embedding SEL in educational settings.\n\n \n\n \n
