Opinion: Degradation of Quebec forests is costly to all

An increase in cutting in Quebec’s public forests would be a mistake for the forests, the industry, the climate and the regions.

A recent opinion article in the Montreal Gazette (“Shortfall in forest harvest is costly to economy” Oct. 29) called on governments and logging companies to work together to increase cutting in Quebec.

In Memoriam: Emeritus Professor John R. Ogilvie (1930 – 2020)

John R. Ogilvie, BScAgr’54, PhD, FCSBE, FASABE, P.Eng., P.Ag (Dist), 2010 Distinguished Alumni  Award recipient, a leader in agricultural and bioresource engineering, died on March 20, 2020 at the age of 90, in Guelph, Ontario.

Robin Beech named Թ's new Dean of Students

Congratulations to Professor Robin Beech (Parasitology) who will become Թ’s Dean of Students on November 1.  

Robin joined the Institute of Parasitology in 1992 and has served as the Associate Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies since 2015.  In addition to his extensive experience in student advising, supervision, discipline and policy, he is skilled in conflict resolution, mediation and creative problem solving.

Maclean’s rates Թ as the top medical-doctoral university in Canada

Earlier today, Maclean’s Magazine issued its 30th annual Canadian university rankings and, for the 16th straight year, Թ was named the country’s top medical-doctoral university. The Medical Doctoral category includes 15 universities with a broad range of PhD programs and research, as well as medical schools.

Pourtant, quand on abandonne un légume laid à la ferme, on ne jette pas seulement une denrée, on gaspille toutes les ressources naturelles et la main-d’œuvre nécessaires pour la produire.

Virtual Programming – Our New Outreach

First online USRA poster presentations a resounding success

Thanks to the leadership of TLS presentation coach, Dr. Andrew Churchill, and support from Թ Office of Student Academic Services and the Lister Family Engaged Science Initiative, 21 undergraduate students wowed us with their research posters, lightening talks and Q & A responses during the Faculty’s first-ever online Undergraduate Student Summer Research Poster Presentation event.
