This year\, the conference will again be held on line via Zoom\, due to the uncertainty regarding the Covid-19 situation.\n \n \n\nTwo well recognized researchers in statistics and biostatistics wil l deliver keynote speeches: Professor Alan E. Gelfand from Duke University and Professor Jennifer Hill from New York University. If you plan on submitting an abstract\, yo u do not have to complete the registration form. However\, you must fill i n the abstract submission form (https://sites.google.com/view/biostatresea rchday-2021/submit) before Wednesday\, September 8th 2021\, 23:59 EDT to c onfirm your participation to the competition.\n\nOnce you have submitted a n abstract for your poster\, we will send you an email to ask you to submi t your poster for the competition\, by replying to the email. Therefore\, please double check your email address in the abstract submission form and make sure it is correct. The deadline to submit your poster will be on Fr iday\, September 17th 2021\, 23:59 EDT\, a week prior the event.\n\nOn the event day\, you will give a short presentation about your poster to share your research. This presentation should not be longer than 5 minutes and should be rehearsed in order to navigate your poster smoothly over Zoom. A presentation that has reached 5 minutes will be cut.\n\nFAQ\n\nQ: What ki nd of research are you expecting me to present? I feel like my work is too naive/simple to give a talk.\n\nA: Any research is welcome. It could be w ork from your summer SURA / NSERC USRA / ISM research\, or it could be wor k from a research/project course such as MATH 396 / 410 / 470.\n\n \n\nQ:  How long should the presentation take?\n\nA: The participants should have their posters ready such that they can present their work in no more than 5 minutes. A presentation that has reached 5 minutes will be cut.\n\n \n\n Q: Can I ask for help in reviewing my poster / help me practice my present ation?\n\nA: Yes\, you can get any help you find necessary. However\, keep in mind that your poster and presentation must be about your own research .\n\n \n\nQ: My research project was done as a team. Could we register for the competition as a team?\n\nA: Yes. You are allowed to register for thi s competition as a team. However\, you must register under your teams’ lea der name with “(team)” next to their name. We will email you to ask for al l your team members’ names and emails. The presentation may be given by on e member only or the full team. However\, keep in mind that for the presen tation\, only 5 minutes will be allowed anyway. Rehearse accordingly.\n\n  \n\nQ: Are there any fees required to participate in this competition?\n\n A: No\, the competition is free.\n\n \n\nWe expect your poster to contain a title\, your name (or the names of all members of your team) and your af filiation. We recommend that you include the following information: the ob jectives of your study\, the methods you use\, some results and a discussi on of the strengths and limitations of your study. Recall a poster is a vi sual summary of your study: use figures and tables!\n\n \n\nWe do not have any preference for the size of your poster. However\, do not forget that  you will have to navigate your poster while presenting it over Zoom in you r 5 minutes talk. We suggest you adjust the size of your poster accordingl y!
