In Memoriam: Paul Marchand, Doggone Foundation

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Paul Marchand, President and Executive Director of the Doggone Foundation, founding donor of MI4, and a true champion of infection and immunity research.

Paul was a visionary who recognized early the importance of investing in infection, immunity, and pandemic preparedness. In 2018, the Doggone Foundation’s monumental $15 million gift helped launch the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity, bringing together researchers across ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï and its affiliated institutions, aiming to fulfill one common goal – tackle complex health challenges.

Paul believed firmly that the greatest impact comes from investing in people – their ideas, collaboration, and ambition to turn science into better health outcomes, from bench to bedside. Since the moment we approached him, he believed in MI4’s mission and helped shape its interdisciplinary spirit.

We were privileged to work with Paul and to benefit from his wisdom, generosity, and encouragement. Guided by his lifelong motto, Non nobis solum – Not for ourselves alone – his legacy will continue to inspire our community and our work for years to come.

With heartfelt condolences,

Dr. Donald Sheppard

Founding Director

Dr. Marcel A. Behr
