Québec Science magazine has published its list of 2025’s Top 10 breakthroughs by Quebec researchers. Four ��Թ� research papers, including one from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, are listed.

Their topics range from prehistoric fossils to female fertility, highlighting the range of expertise at the University.

Selected as the #1 iGEM team among 195 participating undergraduate institutions worldwide, ��Թ� iGEM has once again brought home a first-place award after previously securing the top spot in 2023. This achievement places ��Թ� iGEM among a group of only four teams globally to have won the Grand Prize more than once.

New injectable gel shows promise as voice loss treatment

��Թ� researchers have engineered a new hydrogel that shows early promise as a treatment for people with vocal cord injuries.

Voice loss is often permanent when scarring forms on the vocal cords. Current injectable treatments break down quickly, which can force patients to get repeated procedures that can further damage the delicate tissue.

Six new or renewed Canada Research Chairs awarded to FMHS
