ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï is committed to supporting members of its community who are victims of criminal offences. In accordance with the Loi visant à aider les personnes victimes d’infractions criminelles et à favoriser leur rétablissement (LAPVIC), the University has adopted a Declaration of Services describing the support, information and referral services available to persons who are victims, as well as the process for submitting a complaint about dissatisfaction with services received.

This page does not replace emergency, medical, legal, disciplinary or police processes.


What the Declaration covers

The Declaration of Services brings together information about ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s institutional commitments and the services available to persons who are victims of criminal offences, including:

  • available support and referral services;
  • how to access information and assistance;
  • the principles that guide ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s response, including respect, confidentiality and accessibility;
  • how to make a complaint if a person is dissatisfied with the services received.

Complaint mechanism for dissatisfaction with services

A person who is dissatisfied with the services they received under the Declaration may submit a complaint to the Office of the Secretary-General. This complaint mechanism is intended to address concerns about the quality, accessibility, timeliness or coordination of services.

This process is separate from processes for reporting an incident, filing a disciplinary complaint, seeking emergency help, or pursuing legal remedies.

What to include

Please include your name, contact information, the service involved, a brief description of the concern, and the outcome you are seeking.

Privacy

Complaints will be handled confidentially, subject to the limits imposed by law and University obligations.


Available supports

Depending on the situation, members of the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï community may be directed to University or external services, including support related to safety, health and wellness, sexual violence response, accommodations, or other appropriate resources.


Annual reporting

ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï will maintain the Declaration of Services and provide required updates and complaint data to the Bureau de soutien aux services aux personnes victimes, in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
