David Anekwe also successfully defended his PhD thesis on July 12! The title of his thesis was, “Early Mobilization of the Critically Ill.”

Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) president-elect, Sarah Marshall, recently opened a new exhibit at ��Թ�’s Maude Abbott Medical Museum. ‘Sparks and Waves: The use of electricity, light and sound in physiotherapy’ explores the history and evolution of these techniques in therapy. The exhibit displays machines housed in the ��Թ� School of Physical and Occupational Therapy during the mid 20th century. The exhibit opened September 28th, and is a permanent exhibit at the Museum.

Since the spring of 2013, the Joint Curriculum Committee for Interprofessional Education has developed three Interprofessional Education courses consisting of 23 IPE learning activities. Dr. Isabelle Gagnon, Assistant Professor at SPOT, has been awarded a CIHR Team Grant to develop the “Canadian Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Research Consortium”. The goal of this new research group is to improve the delivery of health care to Canadians with TBI from coast to coast, and also in a global context, by and with scientists, patients and public health leaders. Dr. Gagnon has also been named Lead on the Trauma Strategic Group, an integral part of REPAR’s Scientific Council / Conseil scientifique.
