ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï is a diverse institution with research activities spanning two campuses, 10 Faculties, 16 Schools, multiple hospitals, research centres, and institutes. It is home to more than 1,700 tenured or tenure-track faculty members. Â
As such, it is the University’s role to take responsibility for the environmental, economic, and social implications of its research. It is a core commitment within the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Strategic Research Plan.
Almost a quarter of ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï faculty members are engaged in sustainability research.
ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Sustainability Systems Initiative
From 2017 to 2025, the MSSI provided funding to support bold and innovative research projects that addressed sustainability challenges and built ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s capacity for collaborative research. Its mandate now complete, the networks, programs, and important lessons learned from the initiative will help inform the development of a new Academic Strategic Plan for the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Sustainability Park.                                                                                 Â
