We are pleased to announce that Steve Dustin (MBA'99) has become the 4th president of Laurentide Controls in its 45th year of operation, succeeding Chris Dickson.
Chris Dickson assumed the role as President of Laurentide in 1996 and led the company to become the leading process automation supplier in Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Eastern Ontario. Chris will transition to an advisory role and continue to provide guidance to Laurentide’s management team through September 30, 2014.

Cataract Surgery
The Jewish General Hospital is hoping to reduce wait times for cataract surgery by better managing its resources. It recently conducted an analysis of its operations using an approach developed by the Harvard Business School and found that it could make improvements that would increase its capacity for cataract surgery by as much as 50 per cent.

It took him 13 years, but former Canadiens forward Mathieu Darche (BCom'00) is finally putting his Թ international business degree to great use.
For the past three weeks, Darche has been settling in as director of business development and public relations for Lachine-headquartered Delmar International Inc., a global giant in freight forwarding and customs brokerage.
His appointment to the newly created position will be announced on Tuesday via Delmar press release.

An online social platform that accurately forecasts future sales of new products has won first place at the Desautels Faculty of Management’s entrepreneurial competition, the Dobson Cup.

... Team leader and Desautels graduate Grant Yim (BCom'03) says “It is unique in the fact that there is nowhere else to find, in one place, information about products that have not yet been released. Also, existing market research organisations do not leverage social media, and as such their data is expensive and the sample sizes are smaller.”

A newly-opened event space at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management which has already hosted events with global leaders from the fields of management, politics and academics, has been named in honour of one of the School’s leading benefactors.
... The space will be known as Desautels Hall in honour of Dr. Marcel A. Desautels (LLD'07), befitting the school’s most generous donor, who has given an extraordinary $41 million to the Rotman School.

Over 60 years ago, Yves Clermont and Charles Leblond characterized the steps of sperm differentiation in the testis. This enabled them to identify for the first time the population of spermatogonia responsible for the production of spermatozoa.
