Hanna Caldwell

Hanna Caldwell

Hanna Caldwell is a Ph.D. student in the Թ School of Social Work under the supervision of Dr. Jill Hanley and a recipient of the SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral (CGS-D) Award. She will focus her dissertation research on inequality in paid parental leave in the United States.

She is interested in equitable health and social policies for parents and their children. Before moving to Montreal for her MSW at Թ in 2016, Hanna worked in international development, refugee resettlement, and migrant mental health in the Middle East and North America. Hanna has clinical experience with families in multiple community-based settings, including as a program coordinator at Action Réfugiés Montréal and as interim program manager of a community-based organization in the Ashrefiyyeh neighbourhood of Amman, Jordan, through the International Community Action Network. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, where she studied culture, politics, and the Arab world. She was a Fulbright Fellow in Jordan in 2012-2013.
