Robert Sladek Prize for Mentorship in Genomic Medicine

Established in memory of Professor Robert Sladek, a pioneering genomics researcher, founding member of the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Genome Centre, and valued member of the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Institute of Genomic Medicine, this annual $15,000 prize recognizes a ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï researcher or clinician who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to mentorship. The award celebrates Prof. Sladek’s legacy of scientific excellence, generosity, and dedication to supporting trainees, junior colleagues, and the broader research community.

Open to ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï faculty members whose work aligns with the goals of the D2R Initiative, the prize may be awarded to candidates who apply directly or who are nominated by a colleague through the application process. In addition to recognizing outstanding mentorship, the award provides funding to support mentorship-related initiatives that strengthen the genomic medicine research community.

The inaugural 2026 Robert Sladek Prize for Mentorship in Genomic Medicine was awarded to Professor Yann Joly in recognition of his exceptional contributions to mentorship and leadership in the field.
