An evening of documentary storytelling at Cin茅ma du Parc
Join us for the opening event of the Annual Grand Challenge at Cin茅ma du Parc鈥攁n evening of powerful short documentary films that bring the human realities of climate change to the screen. Through intimate journalism and storytelling, these films center lived experiences and voices that are too often left out of the climate conversation.
We are proud to be hosting two Canadian journalists, Leila Beaudoin and Maxime Corneau, whose work brings audiences to the frontlines of environmental transformation in Canada鈥檚 coastal communities. Each short film will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker, offering space for reflection and discussion.

All Eyes on the Water
鈥淎ll Eyes On the Water鈥� explores the threats that storm surges pose to the people, culture, and infrastructure of Western and Northern Newfoundland. As sea levels rise and storms intensify, it鈥檚 not just the fishery and the livelihoods of the people that are at stake, but also the rich cultural heritage of these coastal communities.
Leila Beaudoin left the daily newsbeat to live by the sea. She returned to her coastal home post-pandemic to focus on climate change, oceans, and fisheries. Her work is told through rural witnesses, coastal communities, and nature.
She lives in a tiny home on the Northwest Atlantic. When she鈥檚 not there she鈥檚 working with CBC Newfoundland and Labrador.

Maxime Corneau
TUKTOYAKTUK : O霉 aller quand l鈥檕c茅an nous engloutit ?
Set in the Arctic community of Tuktoyaktuk, this film explores the urgent question of displacement as rising seas and erosion threaten homes, infrastructure, and ways of life.
Maxime Corneau is a journalist at Radio-Canada since 2010. He covers environmental issues with a focus on the lived experiences of the people behind the headlines.
