• Be enrolled or have graduated from one of the following Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) programs listed below.
• Complete the DEC within the required timeframe.
• Be in the听final year of collegial studies and have the DEC awarded by July 31 of the year of entry into the Med-P Qualifying Year (latest eligible semester: Winter).

Eligible DEC Programs

French Baccalaureate Requirements

• Complete the program in Qu茅bec at either Marie-de-France or Stanislas;
• Complete both Premi猫re and Terminale in Qu茅bec;
• Complete all Qu茅bec CEGEP-equivalent prerequisite competencies (鈥渃ompl茅ments qu茅b茅cois鈥�);
• Have the required competencies/courses listed on the school course attestation; and
• Receive an R score.

Ineligible Applicants

Applicants are considered ineligible if they:

• Graduated from a program that is not listed as an eligible DEC program;
• Have previously applied to the Med-P Qualifying Year;
• Are registered in or have completed more than one term of a full-time university-level program;
• Completed prerequisite courses outside the regular Fall or Winter semesters;听
• Have graduated from another post-secondary program; or
• Completed a Grade 12 program (including Qu茅bec Grade 12 programs such as Stanstead College or Lower Canada College, including the IB Diploma) as the basis of application

DEC Completion Timeline

Most applicants complete their DEC within the expected two-year timeframe while enrolled full-time during the Fall and Winter semesters. Applicants must complete their DEC within a maximum of three years.

Additional time to complete the DEC within this three-year period may be due to factors such as:

• Participation in a Tremplin (bridging) program;

• Completion of a Double DEC;
• Participation in Sports-脡tudes;
• Required courses unavailable at the institution;
• Withdrawal from a course or semester for medical reasons;
• Variation in course load between semesters; or
• Other documented extenuating circumstances.

Applicants who do not complete their DEC within three years must select 鈥淓xtenuating Circumstances鈥� in the application and provide supporting documentation for review.

Extenuating Circumstances

Applicants must select 鈥淓xtenuating Circumstances鈥� in the application if:

• They have not completed their DEC within three years; or
• Their circumstances temporarily affected their academic performance.

Applicants must submit:

• A letter explaining the circumstances;
• Supporting documentation.

Applicants with a DEC Who Took a Gap Year

Applicants who have completed a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) may be considered for admission to the Med-P Qualifying Year, even if they are not current-year graduates, provided that they:

• Have never been registered or enrolled in a full-time university-level program;
• Have not previously applied to the Med-P Qualifying Year.

During the period between DEC completion and applying to the Med-P Qualifying Year:

• Applicants may complete a maximum of 12 university-level credits (across all semesters combined).
• Applicants must select 鈥淓xtenuating Circumstances鈥� when submitting their application and provide a letter explaining their activities, experiences, or circumstances since completing their DEC, along with supporting documentation.

Exception for Applicants Beginning Another Program After a Fall DEC Graduation

Applicants who completed their DEC during the Fall semester and began another post-secondary program in the following Winter semester may remain eligible, provided that they:

• Complete no more than 12 university-level credits during the gap period; and
• Understand that academic performance from this program will not be considered as part of the admission assessment.

DEC Science Competency Requirements

In addition to all other program requirements, candidates must have successfully completed and achieved the competency codes for the following courses by the time the DEC is granted. The table below outlines the required competency codes for each eligible DEC program.
