11th Annual General Meeting
Wednesday, June 17, 2026

Թ Faculty Club, 2:30-6 p.m.

This year's AGM will celebrate MURA's 11th anniversary. Attendees will hear about the developments that have taken place in MURA over the last year, vote on special issues and welcome the acclaimed members of the MURA Board and Executive.

Dicki Chhoyang will be the keynote speaker and her talk is titled Why Tibet Matters!Sheholds an undergraduate degree from Թ, an M.A. in Tibetan Studies from Indiana University, and an M.Sc. in Planning from the University of Guelph.

Due to space limitations, registration for this meeting is full. If you wish to be placed on a waiting list, send an email to mura-arum.association [at] mcgill.ca.

We are very proud and pleased to announce that MURA Board member, Jacques Derome, received the David Johnston Faculty & Staff Award at the 2026 Թ Alumni Association Honours and Awards Ceremony held on May 5, 2026 at the Maison Alcan.

Named in honour of former Principal David Johnston’s leadership efforts, this award is presented to a Թ faculty or staff member who is an exemplary ambassador for Թ, and who has done exemplary work on behalf of the Թ Annual Fund or who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the Թ Alumni Association’s activities through voluntary service. Kim Bartlett - My Dance With Parkinson's
Video now available

On May 13, 2026, Kim Bartlett presented a heartfelt and inspiring virtual presentation where she shared her personal experience of living with Parkinson’s disease—and how movement has become a powerful tool for coping, resilience, and everyday well-being.

Kim Bartlett was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2009. Thanks to dance classes and support from family and friends, she continued working full-time as Director of Admissions at Թ until 2019. Now “retired”, Kim continues to dance, socialize, study and enjoy her grandkids. She has enjoyed dance since the age of 5. Kim continues to enjoy as participant and president of the non-profit organization, Parkinson en mouvement.

Laurette Dube

MURA member, Laurette Dubé awarded Թ Medal

Professor Emerita Laurette Dubé was awarded the Թ Medal for Exceptional Academic Achievement on May 27, in  recognition of a career that has reshaped how researchers, policymakers and practitioners work together to tackle some of the world’s most complex challenges. The Թ Medal is the University's highest academic honour.

Թ Community for Lifelong Learning
West Island Location

MCLL is exploring extending their study group offering to Թ’s Macdonald Campus. Last month MCLL hosted a half-day event on "Living Well As we Age" at the Macdonald Campus of Թ" (left). As this initiative is still in its early stages, they are seeking to gauge interest in moderating or hosting.
