Macdonald Campus is one of ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s distinctive learning environments. It is a place that combines academic excellence, hands-on learning, and a strong sense of community.

At Mac (as most refer to the campus), people move from classrooms, to labs, to fields, across spaces that connect university activities to real-world challenges. It is an ideal location for ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï to grow!

Mandate

The goal of the Future of Mac Task Force is to develop comprehensive, forward-looking and actionable recommendations to increase the number of students, academic programs, and research activities at Mac, and to further the role of the campus in advancing the University’s mission.

Timeframe

  • The process began in April 2026 with the identification of leads and committees.
  • Work began in May, through initial meetings and plans of work.
  • Stakeholder consultations begin over the summer, when field work is underway.
  • Broader consultation will be held at the start of the Fall term when there are more students and faculty on ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï campuses.
  • A mid-point report will be issued, then a final report in December 2026.
  • The horizon for ideas and their implementation is 5 to 10 years.

Participants and themes

The mandate for a Task Force comes from ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s President and Vice-Chancellor, Deep Saini. To ensure a comprehensive process, he named three co-chairs:

  • Angela Campbell, Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic)
  • Fabrice Labeau, Vice-President (Administration and Finance)
  • Salwa Karboune, Dean, Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Associate Vice-President, Macdonald Campus

There are also dozens of Task Force members, including students, faculty and staff members from across ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, divided into five committees:

  • Academic & Research Programs
  • Student Life & Services
  • Infrastructure & Real Estate
  • Financial Planning
  • Subject Matter Expert Support
