ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï invites applications for the position of Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, a senior academic leadership role responsible for shaping the strategic direction, academic quality, and institutional supports that define graduate education and postdoctoral affairs at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï.

About the Role

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic), and working in close collaboration with the Faculties and other academic units, the Associate Provost & Dean provides University-wide academic and administrative leadership for more than 10,000 graduate students and over 600 postdoctoral fellows across ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s eleven Faculties and multiple interdisciplinary programs.

The role is fundamentally collaborative: the Associate Provost & Dean works with Deans, Chairs, Associate Deans of Graduate Studies, supervisors, and program directors to ensure academic excellence, high-quality supervision, strong progression and completion outcomes, and coherent, consistently applied policies for graduate education. At the same time, the role provides distinct and appropriate oversight and tailored support for postdoctoral fellows, recognizing that their training pathways, expectations, and timelines differ from those of graduate students.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong record of scholarly accomplishment, teaching, supervision, and mentorship.
  • Experience in academic administration.
  • Deep understanding of graduate and postdoctoral needs and of ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s academic structures and policies.
  • Excellent judgment, integrity, empathy, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with Faculties, supervisors, students, and postdoctoral fellows.
  • Proficiency in English and French (or a willingness to develop proficiency).

The position is open to internal candidates, preferably from among ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï’s tenured academic staff.
