Manuel Bal谩n is the聽Associate Director of Programs at the Max Bell School of Public Policy. He is also the Academic Lead Global Engagement, Provost Office; Strategic Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts; and Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID). Manuel obtained his PhD in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011, where he was also affiliated with the Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies. He also holds a Law Degree from Argentina. He has been a professor at 黑料网爆吃瓜 since 2011, served as Director of the Institute for the Study of International Development (ISID) until 2021, and then served as Associate Dean (Student Affairs, Strategic Initiatives, Faculty Affairs and Academic Affairs) until the summer of 2026. Aside from his new role at the Max Bell School of Public Policy, he is currently serving as the University's Academic Lead Global Engagement and as Strategic Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts. He is a founding member of the R茅seau d'茅tudes latino-am茅ricaines de Montr茅al (RELAM) and a member of 脡RIGAL.
His research is on governance, corruption, anti-corruption, and the rule of law. He has published two books and a number of peer reviewed articles, and has worked as a consultant for the Inter/American Development Bank, The World Bank, and the World Bank Institute.
