Roojin Habibi

Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, University of Ottawa

Roojin Habibi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law (Common Law Section), a Senior Visiting Fellow of the United Nations University’s International Institute for Global Health, and a Research Fellow of the Global Strategy Lab based at York University and the University of Ottawa. Bridging the fields of international law, health law and human rights, her current research program examines normative interpretation and change in global health law. Her mixed methods and collaborative approach to research has led to the convening of several international conferences as well as publications across a range of venues, including in journals of public health and medicine, law and social science reviews, commissioned reports, foundational law textbooks, and public news and media outlets.

Jennifer Welsh

Director,  Max Bell School of Public Policy

Jennifer M. Welsh is the Canada 150 Research Chair in Global Governance and Security at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï, and the Director of the Max Bell School of Public Policy. She was previously Chair in International Relations at the European University Institute and Professor in International Relations at the University of Oxford, where she co-founded the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict. From 2013-2016, she served as Assistant Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, on the Responsibility to Protect. She currently sits as a member of the IDP Protection Expert Group, based in UNHCR. 

Jennifer has a BA from the University of Saskatchewan in Political Science, and a M.Phil. and D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar.

Momar Ndao

Associate Professor, ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï

Dr. Momar Ndao completed his veterinary studies in Senegal, and Diploma in Tropical Medicine, MSc and PhD in International Health and Tropical Diseases at Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. He is currently an Associate Professor at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï in the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Experimental Medicine and Department of Microbiology and Immunology. He has served as Director of the Canadian National Reference Centre for Parasitology (NRCP) since 2002. He is Chair of the Facility Animal Care Committee (FACC) Research Institute of the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Health Centre Glen site since 2014. Selected as member of the Expert Working Group for the Canadian Biosafety Standards and Guidelines, and Co-chair of the Food and Environmental Parasitology Network (Health Canada) among others. He is member of the executive board of the World Federation of Parasitologists since 2014, member of the executive board of the International Federation of Tropical Medicine since 2017, member of the Scientific Committee of Pasteur Institute since 2016 and also member of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene since 1999.

Jean Lebel

Fellow and Associate Professor, Montreal Institute for International Studies (IEIM)

Jean Lebel has devoted his career to supporting scientists to ensure that quality research related to international development issues can be used in public policy to improve the environment, human health, socio-economic conditions, education, and science and technology policies.  He has participated in the creation of numerous financial and scientific partnership agreements with multilateral, bilateral and private organizations to enable the growth of research for international development.
