Dr. Erwin Schurr is a Distinguished James ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Professor of Human Genetics and Medicine at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï. He is the past leader of the Program of Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health (IDIGH) at the Research Institute of the ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï Health Centre. He did his postdoctoral training with Drs. Emil Skamene and Philippe Gros at ºÚÁÏÍø±¬³Ô¹Ï after a having obtained a PhD in Cell Biology from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in Germany.

Current research projects:

  • Studying the biological factors that put people at increased or reduced risk of tuberculosis or leprosy using genetic epidemiology and systems biology approaches. A special focus is on how mycobacterial pathogens modulate the risk of common, non-infectious, immune-mediated diseases.
